Green Bay Packers

The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Austin Reed, 29 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Ulofoshio falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In pick No. 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
They jumped the gun on Kris Jenkins, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at the 58th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
They paid up for Christian Mahogany at No. 88 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
A premium they did not need to pay, Cole Bishop a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 164
Marist Liufau in Round 5, Pick 33 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
The board had cheaper options than Garret Greenfield at pick 202, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
They reached a country mile for Jalen Sundell at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Austin Reed · QB · rank 274
A wild overpay on Austin Reed in No. 245, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 236
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 255th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
