They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Justin Eboigbe, 42 picks early at pick 106. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Getting Rosengarten where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
In pick 22 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Kool-Aid McKinstry at the 34th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 54th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Braden Fiske at pick No. 70 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Austin Booker in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Brenden Rice in the 79th pick says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Braelon Allen in No. 102 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Zak Zinter went about where he belonged in pick 104. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Justin Eboigbe at slot 106 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 10; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalyx Hunt a notch or two before his time. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
They took Luke McCaffrey at par in pick No. 147, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Marist Liufau in the 157th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Dwight McGlothern at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Steal is underselling it; Roger Rosengarten at No. 169 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Tip Reiman in pick No. 177; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cornelius Johnson at the 179th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Myles Cole this early at the 180th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Julian Pearl, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylan Ford at slot 221. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A market-rate DT-EDGE, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaden Crumedy. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
They reached a country mile for Josh Proctor at the 225th pick, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Sam Hartman at No. 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
