The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 56 spots for DeMonte Capehart, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid a round early for Junior Colson in the 56th overall pick, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Khyree Jackson at No. 87 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Matt Goncalves in pick No. 89, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Braelon Allen at slot 125 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Grayson Murphy went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 37. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They talked themselves into Phil Jurkovec at pick 213, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
DeMonte Capehart in the 242nd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
