The trade table was where it all came apart. The Packers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The Wright pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.
Landing Beebe that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a centerfielder for the defense at fair value. More want than need.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 41, where Troy Fautanu graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 25 with a little surplus value in Graham Barton. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They liked Malachi Corley enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 63. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Cooper Beebe at slot 93 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Kris Abrams-Draine at the 94th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Cam Hart in the 126th pick; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Braelon Allen this early at the Round 4 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Cole Bishop while clear needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Jaylen Wright at pick No. 134 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Brandon Coleman in Round 5, Pick 28, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
