Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles bled value on every deal, hence the D+.

There is reaching, and then there is Jamaree Caldwell at the Round 6 slot. The Eagles jumped the board by 116 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Jones Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 19
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kenneth Grant at the 32nd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
They let Jihaad Campbell come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Gunnar Helm · TE · rank 68
Gunnar Helm at the 64th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · David Bailey · LB-EDGE · rank 145
A swing that ignored the value entirely, David Bailey well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.28 · Pick 129 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 109
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jared Wilson reach pick 129 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.23 · Pick 162 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 128
Emery Jones Jr. at No. 162 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
R5.27 · Pick 166 · Jeffrey Bassa · LB · rank 132
They barely believed it either: Jeffrey Bassa still on the board at the Round 5 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R5.30 · Pick 169 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 175
By-the-book stuff, Ollie Gordon II at slot 169 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.3 · Pick 181 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 192
They jumped the gun on Jason Marshall Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.38 · Pick 216 · Jamaree Caldwell · DL · rank 332
A real head-scratcher, Jamaree Caldwell in the 216th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Nohl Williams · CB · rank 279
They talked themselves into Nohl Williams at pick 257, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
