There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
On value alone, Mustapha makes the weekend a net positive. They are betting Jones proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Darius Robinson at par in the 41st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Edgerrin Cooper come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 26. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They did well to land Blake Corum in pick 88, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Brenden Rice at No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Christian Jones at pick No. 127, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
The board had Malik Mustapha higher than the 168th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
