The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: Ro Torrence, the No. 179 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 231 like a gift left on the doorstep.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Holker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Marvin Harrison Jr. in pick 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Bo Nix in No. 34, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in slot 68. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Dallin Holker at the 137th overall pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a cornerback like Dwight McGlothern reach pick No. 180 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nice patience on Jha'Quan Jackson, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 18. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ro Torrence in the 231st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
