You could see the war room lean forward. Josh Proctor at slot 232 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
They did well to land Quinyon Mitchell in No. 34, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nice patience on Tyler Guyton, who had no business lasting to the 53rd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Ricky Pearsall at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Audric Estime at pick 103 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Will Shipley in slot 139 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javon Baker at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, AJ Barner went about where he belonged in pick No. 186. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Josh Proctor was still sitting there in slot 232, and they pounced on premier safety value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
