Somewhere a general manager is explaining how KeAndre Lambert-Smith got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at the 250th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Yarns has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge. A real need, handled.
Isaiah Bond in pick No. 61 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dylan Sampson at slot 79 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jay Higgins slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 9 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A quiet steal in pick 207: Jason Marshall Jr. for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Marcus Yarns at the 238th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the 250th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
