The rest of the league will want that one back. Cornelius Johnson tumbling to the Packers in the 219th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Laube has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 41 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Payton Wilson at slot 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brandon Dorlus at the 88th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in No. 91, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dylan Laube at the 126th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tykee Smith in pick 169 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Garret Greenfield at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cornelius Johnson in No. 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Michael Barrett come to them and pounced at the Round 7 slot. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Reed in the 255th pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
