You build a draft on nights like this. Jay Higgins had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The Commanders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Quinshon Judkins slid further than he should have, and the 79th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Jay Higgins in pick 203 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They paid sticker price for Logan Parr in pick No. 236, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Shilo Sanders in the 247th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
