This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Dillon Gabriel, the No. 133 name on the board, stolen at slot 211. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Adding Josh Downs by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
A quiet steal in pick 14: Ashton Jeanty for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 48
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tre Harris. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 56
They will replay Alfred Collins at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Jordan Phillips · DT · rank 109
Somehow Jordan Phillips was still sitting there in No. 150, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Tahj Brooks · RB · rank 127
Circle this one: Tahj Brooks at Round 5, Pick 31 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 129
Emery Jones Jr. at pick No. 172 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 111
Taking Lathan Ransom in the 174th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 144
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in the 190th pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Dillon Gabriel · QB · rank 133
Dillon Gabriel at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · John Williams · OT · rank 244
John Williams at No. 249 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
