You could see the war room lean forward. T.J. Sanders at pick No. 224 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Ratledge reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ajani Cornelius in slot 64. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tre Harris at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Ashton Gillotte all the way to pick 96, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Tommi Hill in Round 4, Pick 32, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Circle this one: Rylie Mills at the 160th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; Jack Kiser went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like T.J. Sanders reach pick No. 224 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
