Nobody else had Logan Jones anywhere near Round 6, Pick 8. The Cardinals did, by 106 spots, and that gap is the whole story. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Dumas-Johnson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reach on Dontay Corleone in slot 40; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cobee Bryant at pick No. 72 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A slide stopped in pick 104, with Riley Leonard worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a linebacker like Jamon Dumas-Johnson reach Round 5, Pick 8 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Logan Jones at the 168th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tony Grimes at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
