There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cardinals took Marcus Harris a full 192 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nazir Stackhouse at pick 72 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Marcus Harris at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Gentry Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jalon Daniels at No. 168 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
DJ Uiagalelei at slot 200 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
