Kansas City Chiefs

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chiefs and Mills: D+.

Somebody in pick No. 193 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Rylie Mills, the No. 121 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Jack Sawyer · DE-EDGE · rank 25
Jack Sawyer in pick No. 33 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 34
A slide stopped in No. 47, with Emery Jones Jr. worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 56
Tate Ratledge slipping to the 64th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jordan Hancock · CB · rank 63
Fair-plus on Jordan Hancock, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 31
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Kenneth Grant reach the 84th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.15 · Pick 111 · Dasan McCullough · LB · rank 95
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dasan McCullough at Round 4, Pick 15. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.32 · Pick 128 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 85
Sonny Styles at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.15 · Pick 143 · Nic Anderson · WR · rank 80
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Nic Anderson in pick 143, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.32 · Pick 160 · Riley Mahlman · OT · rank 127
They barely believed it either: Riley Mahlman still on the board at No. 160. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.1 · Pick 193 · Rylie Mills · DT · rank 121
Somehow Rylie Mills was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 1, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A need, and now a little less of one.
