Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Noah Thomas at the 128th overall pick is 113 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. On value alone, Mills makes the weekend a net positive. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.20 · Pick 20 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 3
Travis Hunter slipping to pick No. 20 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 32
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Tyleik Williams in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 60
Ajani Cornelius at pick 64 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 58
Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 5 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Dani Dennis-Sutton · DE-EDGE · rank 44
You do not let an edge rusher like Dani Dennis-Sutton reach the 96th pick and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.19 · Pick 115 · Dasan McCullough · LB · rank 97
Dasan McCullough at No. 115 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.20 · Pick 116 · Nic Anderson · WR · rank 84
Somehow Nic Anderson was still sitting there in pick 116, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.32 · Pick 128 · Noah Thomas · WR · rank 241
Noah Thomas at No. 128 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.32 · Pick 160 · Riley Mahlman · OT · rank 141
Riley Mahlman in pick No. 160 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.1 · Pick 193 · Rylie Mills · DT · rank 133
Circle this one: Rylie Mills at the 193rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
