You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Chiefs did exactly that with Noah Thomas in pick No. 112.

Landing Mahlman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
