Kansas City Chiefs

Anderson should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a D.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Nic Anderson, the No. 107 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 193.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Jack Sawyer · DE-EDGE · rank 8
Jack Sawyer at Round 1, Pick 24 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 32
Steal is underselling it; Emery Jones Jr. at slot 53 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 42
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tate Ratledge reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 48
A slide stopped in pick No. 64, with Ajani Cornelius worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 89
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 88th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Kenneth Grant · DL · rank 76
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to pick 94, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 55
Taking Sonny Styles in the 96th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.24 · Pick 120 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 123
No edge and no loss on Theo Wease Jr. in No. 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.32 · Pick 128 · Tommi Hill · CB · rank 71
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Tommi Hill in pick No. 128, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.32 · Pick 160 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 86
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 32, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.1 · Pick 193 · Nic Anderson · WR · rank 107
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 193 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
