You build a draft on nights like this. Anthony Belton had no business being available in the 160th pick, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Fairchild reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Emery Jones in slot 39, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tyler Booker in pick 64, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kenneth Grant at the 69th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tre Harris in the 96th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ashton Gillotte in pick No. 103 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Oscar Delp in Round 4, Pick 32 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Tommi Hill in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Taking Anthony Belton in No. 160 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Dylan Fairchild at the 193rd pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
