This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Nic Anderson, the No. 78 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 32. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Emery Jones Jr. in Round 2, Pick 3, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Tyler Booker at the 64th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Kenneth Grant still on the board at slot 67. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let an edge rusher like Ashton Gillotte reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Jordan Hancock all the way to pick No. 96, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nic Anderson at pick 128 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Cashius Howell was still sitting there in the 160th overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Caden Prieskorn at No. 193 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
