The Chiefs lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
They are betting Alexander proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Grant.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that.
Princely Umanmielen is a better player than the 36th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Booker at pick No. 64 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Ajani Cornelius was the payoff at No. 68. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kenneth Grant in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Dasan McCullough in slot 90; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
