It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jaylin Smith in the 170th overall pick, a good 80 spots before the room expected him. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Everything downstream of Shedeur Sanders depends on Shedeur Sanders, and the building knows it. The Bryant value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
They talked themselves into Savion Williams at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quinshon Judkins in the 76th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Darius Alexander here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Jaylin Smith at pick 170, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Jaylen Reed, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 174 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Woody Marks in Round 6, Pick 12 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Carson Vinson at pick No. 211 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in the 249th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
