The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren fell into the 95th pick.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Kayden McDonald · DT · rank 20
In pick No. 31 they get a wrecking ball inside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 40
Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 31 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 52
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Deion Burks · WR · rank 108
A slide stopped in slot 125, with Deion Burks worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Joe Royer · TE · rank 120
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Joe Royer at pick 131 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.31 · Pick 171 · Aamil Wagner · OT · rank 169
Aamil Wagner at the 171st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.10 · Pick 191 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 172
Domani Jackson in the 191st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.17 · Pick 198 · Febechi Nwaiwu · OG · rank 171
Febechi Nwaiwu in No. 198 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.21 · Pick 202 · Zane Durant · DT · rank 176
They barely believed it either: Zane Durant still on the board at the 202nd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.31 · Pick 212 · Marlin Klein · TE · rank 173
Somehow Marlin Klein was still sitting there in pick No. 212, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Thaddeus Dixon · CB · rank 213
Thaddeus Dixon at slot 247 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
