The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kaleb Elarms-Orr, No. 247, roughly 71 picks past where he belonged.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They barely believed it either: Kenyon Sadiq still on the board at the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the 95th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Davison Igbinosun at Round 4, Pick 26 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Taking Nicholas Singleton in pick No. 131 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
DeMonte Capehart in pick 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Aamil Wagner at No. 191 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Harold Perkins Jr. at slot 198 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy bit of business in the 202nd pick, where Taylen Green graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
David Gusta in Round 6, Pick 31 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Kaleb Elarms-Orr was still sitting there in pick No. 247, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
