They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Ty Simpson is the Browns' quarterback, full stop.
The cost of the Farmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a passer to set the clock by, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 24th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Gennings Dunker in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalen Farmer at the 70th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tacario Davis at Round 4, Pick 7 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kaytron Allen at No. 146 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy little value on CJ Daniels in pick 149, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Aaron Graves at par in pick No. 206, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jalen Huskey at slot 248 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
