The Billy Schrauth pick is the one that will follow the Chargers into the fall. They took him 33 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Thieneman at that price is a win they earned. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Dillon Thieneman in the 55th overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Billy Schrauth in pick 86 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 23: De'Zhaun Stribling for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ephesians Prysock slipping to the 204th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
