It is the swing that defines the weekend: Mason Reiger in slot 114, a good 34 spots before the room expected him. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Hunter pick is the receipt they will wave around later. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They went early on Derrick Moore in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 4 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A slide stopped in pick No. 98, with Skyler Bell worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mason Reiger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Parker Brailsford in the 137th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dametrious Crownover at the 153rd overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Tanner Koziol come to them and pounced at slot 178. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Dalton Johnson in No. 197; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
