The Giants did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Connor Lew fell into No. 105.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Bentley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Omar Cooper Jr. in slot 37. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in No. 105, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Hezekiah Masses at the 145th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dallen Bentley at pick 186 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Red Murdock in pick No. 192 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kobe Baynes at the 193rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
