The Jaguars clearly saw something nobody else did in Caden Curry, taking him 43 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Landing Stukes that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Sapp pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Chris Bell was the payoff at the 56th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brian Parker II in Round 3, Pick 17, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Caden Curry at pick 88 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Tyreak Sapp while clear needs at quarterback sat open.
Treydan Stukes at the 124th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tim Keenan III slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Marlin Klein in No. 166 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kaelon Black at Round 6, Pick 22 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Isaiah Nwokobia in pick No. 233 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Jimmy Rolder at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eli Heidenreich in the 245th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
