Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Packers to leave a draft. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
On value alone, Smith makes the weekend a net positive. Reaching for Haynes left real value on the table behind him. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in No. 52, with Caleb Banks worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Devin Moore in the 84th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Genesis Smith at pick No. 120 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
