Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Texans to leave a draft. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Every board in the league had Miller lower, and that gap is the story. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 38, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Jadarian Price, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Christen Miller at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Logan Jones in the 106th overall pick, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jakobe Thomas. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Reggie Virgil in the 167th pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaydn Ott in slot 243. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
