The rest of the league will want that one back. Max Klare tumbling to the Patriots in the 191st pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The trade work was a quiet net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordyn Tyson in slot 60 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Peter Woods reach No. 62 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Caleb Tiernan at Round 2, Pick 31 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Eli Stowers at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 108th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Somehow Connor Lew was still sitting there in the 125th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Treydan Stukes at pick No. 129 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Mike Washington Jr. at pick 131 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Deion Burks in pick 170, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Skyler Gill-Howard here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Max Klare still on the board at slot 191. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Aamil Wagner in the 198th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Taylen Green was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 21. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jeff Caldwell in the 212th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
