Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles cashed the board's mistake on Irving: B.

Call it larceny. Bucky Irving sat on the board until the 137th pick, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 11
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 31
You do not let a cornerback like Quinyon Mitchell reach pick No. 50 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 40
The board had Tyler Guyton higher than Round 2, Pick 22, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 86
Marist Liufau in slot 97 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 93
They barely believed it either: Bucky Irving still on the board at No. 137. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 125
They will replay Johnny Dixon at pick 163 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Daijun Edwards · RB · rank 132
Daijun Edwards at the 172nd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 166
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kitan Oladapo in the 178th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Jeremy Flax · OT · rank 235
A slide stopped in the 243rd pick, with Jeremy Flax worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
