You build a draft on nights like this. Kyle Monangai had no business being available in pick 238, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Porter lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a problem off the edge. A real need, handled.
Darien Porter in Round 2, Pick 29 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Savion Williams. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Hollin Pierce in the 148th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cobee Bryant in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kyle Monangai at pick 238 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on LaJohntay Wester in slot 250, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
