Miami Dolphins

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Dolphins a B.

Value B

Future B

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Eric Gentry, 134 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Slaughter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Jeremiyah Love · RB · rank 2
In pick 11 they get a featured back, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 39
Nothing to complain about; Emmanuel Pregnon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · LT Overton · DE-EDGE · rank 63
LT Overton at pick No. 49 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Keionte Scott · CB · rank 60
Value with a capital V on Keionte Scott in the 75th pick, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
Steal is underselling it; Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 82nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 55
They robbed the room for Jake Slaughter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 58
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Germie Bernard in the 97th pick, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Justin Joly · TE · rank 122
Justin Joly in No. 112 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Joe Royer · TE · rank 126
Fair-plus on Joe Royer, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Zxavian Harris · DT · rank 154
They took Zxavian Harris at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.23 · Pick 163 · Demond Claiborne · RB · rank 161
Demond Claiborne in Round 5, Pick 23 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.25 · Pick 165 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 156
They read the board right and Drew Allar was the payoff at slot 165. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 187
They paid sticker price for Jeff Caldwell in the 180th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Eric Gentry · LB · rank 352
Eric Gentry in pick No. 218 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · Isaiah Jatta · OT · rank 244
A reach for Isaiah Jatta in the 227th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.19 · Pick 235 · Lander Barton · LB · rank 230
Lander Barton in pick No. 235 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 251
A reach on Bryce Foster in Round 7, Pick 22; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Joshua Braun · OG · rank 282
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joshua Braun well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Micah Morris · OG · rank 323
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Micah Morris. A need, and now a little less of one.
