You could see the war room lean forward. Malachi Fields at Round 4, Pick 26 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
