This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, stolen at slot 207.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. If Porter pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a bendy edge with upside. A clean fit for the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Darien Porter in pick No. 61 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Savion Williams this early at Round 3, Pick 15. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Hollin Pierce still on the board at slot 148. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ollie Gordon II at No. 207 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Hunter Wohler in the Round 7 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in the 250th overall pick, where LaJohntay Wester graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
