The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Keon Coleman slide 28 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach No. 64 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 95. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Johnny Wilson at slot 133 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tykee Smith in Round 5, Pick 22 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dylan Laube at pick 172 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
