A masterclass at the trade table lands the Chargers a A.

The Chargers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Guerendo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Getting Isaac where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Creed Humphrey pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Bottom line, with Troy Franklin leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 33
In No. 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 28
Kool-Aid McKinstry at the 37th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Adisa Isaac · DE-EDGE · rank 52
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Adisa Isaac at the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 67
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 69th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 102
A tidy little value on DeWayne Carter in Round 4, Pick 5, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
They reached into another round for Isaac Guerendo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 137
Good price on Jarrian Jones in slot 140, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Delmar Glaze · C · rank 192
The board had cheaper options than Delmar Glaze at pick 181, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
Garret Greenfield is a better player than Round 7, Pick 5 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.33 · Pick 253 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 253
LaDarius Henderson at slot 253 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
