They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: J.J. Weaver, 104 picks early at Round 4, Pick 24. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Robinson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
They will answer for taking edge rusher early while wide receiver, cornerback and other spots went begging. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Graham Barton in pick No. 56 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Tyler Nubin in No. 73 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Chop Robinson in Round 3, Pick 24 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A curious use of pick 124. Wide receiver, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; an edge rusher in J.J. Weaver did not.
Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zion Logue at pick No. 212 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Christian Jones in No. 245, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
