The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tyler Guyton, the 137th pick, roughly 97 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Kool-Aid McKinstry at par in pick 18, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and the 50th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 54th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
T.J. Tampa at slot 97 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 137 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Theo Johnson was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 27. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Javon Foster in No. 172 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Nehemiah Pritchett here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Rasheen Ali at No. 243 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
