Call it larceny. Colston Loveland sat on the board until pick No. 158, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
If Mike Green and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
Mike Green at No. 46 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 47 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Ashton Jeanty here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Walter Nolen at the 54th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Tre Harris still on the board at pick No. 61. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Jake Majors enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 23. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Circle this one: Jihaad Campbell at the 97th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Taking Trey Amos in pick 114 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Aireontae Ersery in the 116th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach Round 4, Pick 21 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to No. 124, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in pick 158, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
