Green Bay Packers

The Packers robbed the room for Loveland. Final grade: C-.

Call it larceny. Colston Loveland sat on the board until pick No. 158, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

If Mike Green and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.14 · Pick 46 · Mike Green · DE-EDGE · rank 17
Mike Green at No. 46 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 11
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 47 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
They robbed the room for Ashton Jeanty here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 22
Walter Nolen at the 54th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 24
They barely believed it either: Tre Harris still on the board at pick No. 61. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Jake Majors · C · rank 96
They liked Jake Majors enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 23. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 38
Circle this one: Jihaad Campbell at the 97th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.13 · Pick 114 · Trey Amos · CB · rank 54
Taking Trey Amos in pick 114 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 51
Aireontae Ersery in the 116th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.21 · Pick 122 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 13
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach Round 4, Pick 21 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.23 · Pick 124 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 29
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to No. 124, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.21 · Pick 158 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 26
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in pick 158, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
