Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Kurtis Rourke at the 76th pick is 61 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Higgins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kurtis Rourke at pick 76 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 14 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nazir Stackhouse. The roster fit checks out.
