This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ainias Smith, the No. 161 name on the board, stolen at the 203rd pick. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Brian Thomas Jr. is a better player than Round 2, Pick 28 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Kiran Amegadjie reach the 125th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malik Mustapha in slot 167, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ashton Gillotte in No. 171. The roster fit checks out.
Jack Nelson in the 172nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Fabien Lovett went about where he belonged in pick 175. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ainias Smith at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
