Somewhere a general manager is explaining how A.J. Haulcy got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at the Round 3 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Fa'amoe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 10 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. A real need, handled.
Caleb Banks in pick No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, A.J. Haulcy in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Treydan Stukes is a better player than Round 4, Pick 10 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Jeff Caldwell in pick 189; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Keagen Trost was still sitting there in slot 199, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at No. 221 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Miles Kitselman in the 226th pick, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
