The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Buccaneers watched Cyrus Allen slide 29 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They will need Moore to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th overall pick they get a problem off the edge, even if it was a touch early.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Romello Height in Round 2, Pick 14, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Deontae Lawson at the 77th pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Justin Joly in slot 116; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Trey Moore at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Cyrus Allen at No. 195 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andre Fuller. It fills a real need, too.
