Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Cardinals will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
McNeil-Warren at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every board in the league had Payton lower, and that gap is the story.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Colton Hood at No. 34 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy bit of business in the 65th pick, where Emmanuel McNeil-Warren graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They liked Keylan Rutledge enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
CJ Daniels in Round 5, Pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cole Payton in the 183rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Lander Barton at pick No. 217 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
