The Eagles' one glaring miss is cornerback, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Smith value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every board in the league had Dennis-Sutton lower, and that gap is the story.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on R Mason Thomas in the Round 1 slot, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Derrick Moore at slot 54 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dani Dennis-Sutton at the 68th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value with a capital V on Bryce Lance in the 98th pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Genesis Smith at pick No. 114 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Joe Royer was the payoff at No. 137. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dametrious Crownover at pick 153. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Febechi Nwaiwu in Round 5, Pick 38, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pat Coogan in pick 197 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
