The Texans' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Ioane value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Miller reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Olaivavega Ioane in pick 38. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Jadarian Price in the 59th pick, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Christen Miller was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nicholas Singleton at the 106th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jakobe Thomas at slot 141 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Zxavian Harris in pick No. 167 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dane Key at Round 7, Pick 27 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
